Human Trafficking is happening in our community.
Human trafficking is a very real and prevalent issue across the globe, within Canada, and right here in Toronto.
From 2009 to 2016, there were 1,099 police-reported human trafficking incidents in Canada, with 66% of cases reported in Ontario. Due to the hidden nature of human trafficking, these are only reported incidents. The RCMP estimates that there are an additional 1,400 cases of human trafficking each year. - Statistics Canada
This is an issue that impacts countless communities, and if progress is to be made, action needs to be a collective effort. As hospitality professionals, we play an important role in the fight to end human trafficking.
In this industry education session, you will gain an in-depth understanding of the issue of human trafficking, specific to the hospitality industry in Toronto. Hear from Rhonelle Bruder - TEDX speaker & advocate, industry peers and subject matter experts from Canadian Center To End Human Trafficking, Toronto Police Services Sex Crimes Unit, Covenant House Toronto, Meeting Professional Against Human Trafficking, Greater Toronto Hotel Association about the issue of human trafficking in Toronto, in the hospitality industry, how you and your teams can join the fight against human trafficking, and the resources available to help support you and your teams.
This education session is open to all hospitality industry professionals.
A heartfelt thank you to our local partners, Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Hotelier Magazine, Greater Toronto Hotel Association and Covenant House Toronto.
All proceeds from the session will benefit Covenant House Toronto.
